Newtons, Garmin 910XT and BlueBuds oh my!

When my house burned down, yeah it sucked, big time. But the nice thing to come of it all has been replacing my gear. Has it been upsetting? sure. stressful? of course. But I have been able to update everything I owned with the newest, latest and greatest gear. all I need now is a sick set of wheels!

Before the fire, I was running in Brooks pure connects. I still love those shoes, but I decided to give the Newton Elites a try since they last twice as long, have a shorter heel drop ratio of only 2mm and they help fix your gait. They come in beautiful colors and I love them! They do take some time to adjust to but if you are looking to develop a better stride and shoes that you don't have to replace every two months you should consider giving Newtons a try. They come in lots of great colors, are bright and beautiful! Womens Newton Running Distance Elite

I used to own the Garmin 210 and I loved that watch, but since I was going to be focusing more on triathlons I decided to get the 910XT instead. It is waterproof (YAY) and it counts your distance in the pool which is awesome. If you get the triathlon bundle it comes with a speed and cadence sensor to attach to your bike along with a bike mount. I love this watch, it does cost a pretty penny, but it's worth it!  My newest addition which I love thanks to my boyfriend wanting a pair of his own has been the Bluetooth headphones. Yes, they run out of battery unlike regular ones but it makes not having to deal with the cord so much easier. Plus they offer USA Triathlon members a discount. They fit your ear, the inside of it, are comfortable and do not fall out. They are sweat resistant and you can adjust the cord to fit you properly. Click on the link below to buy them on sale for $125.

As I am spending the summer in Florida Interning with Ironman I knew that I would have to change the location of my races from the Mid-Atlantic to the hot humid days of summers in Florida.  Since I was planning on racing this weekend up north I decided to find a race on the same weekend and I did. Fort Desoto triathlon and duathlon. I chose to do the Duathlon as I am not allowed to swim for 2-3 weeks and didn't want to get rusty in my races. Overall it was a very nice race, located in a park so no traffic, but I could have done without the beach run.

My quest to find the most supportive triathlon specific sports bra's

Last season I changed clothes in my search for the best triathlon gear like I rotated by shoes. I went from Pearl Izumi to Zoot to KSWISS to 2XU with many more intermixed. I officially found 2XU and I love their gear. It is so comfortable and the shorts are long enough to be chafe-free!  However, because I am on the larger chested side, i had to wear a sports bra on top of the ones that came with the tri tanks because it seems that the Triathlon market has yet to make anything women's specific that can hold our precious loved ones up and keep them from bouncing around all over the place.

This year I decided thanks to the recommendations of my triathlon team, TheTriShop.com, I decided to give Orca a tri. So far the Women's Core Support bra is very comfortable and supportive, it has a bra hook in the back to adjust the band size to what you prefer and that sold me. The material was nice and moisture wicking and perfect for running triathlons. It comes in different colors and of course different sizes. If you are interested in giving this bra a try click on this link! Orca Women's Core Support Bra

Meanwhile, my love of brands is still changing with a new obsession in Specialized bike jerseys and SOAS racing. I love that they are women's specific, but so far I haven't seen any sports bras. If anyone has any suggestions please throw them my way! I would like to give another brand a chance to win my heart and chest.

St. Anthony's Triathlon

St. Petersburg, FL
April 28th, 2013
Shortened Swim Olympic Distance
750 meter Swim, 24.5 Mi Bike, 6.2 mile Run
AG- 24th
Time: 2:29:54

All month I was looking forward to my chance to race St. Anthony's where my idol Mirinda Carfrae would be racing as well. And I was finally able to meet her. This was the ultimate moment. She is the reason I got into triathlons because she gave hope to short girls out there that you can compete and beat the tall girls out there. With dedication and a lot of training she went from having very little swimming background to being a World Champion and if I can have any success in this sport like her, I will be very happy.
